Senior Accountant

Job Description

Under the supervision of a manager or director, the senior accountant is responsible for accounting and financial matters involving financial reporting, review and analysis, data research, monitoring of account balances, providing guidance and advice on financial matters, and developing presentations to brief client representatives and senior management.

The senior accountant position includes the following job responsibilities and duties. In order to ensure the success of our staff, we provide comprehensive on-site and off-site training to compliment on-the-job training.

  • Review and prepare financial statements and accompanying notes in accordance with GAAP.
  • Review and perform in-depth account analysis, reconciliations, research transactions and clean-up activities.
  • Coordinate and conduct fluctuation analyses, assess validity of those fluctuations, draft explanations and prepare journal entries when required.
  • Review and document internal control weaknesses, process deficiencies and in-efficient business processes.
  • Develop, track and monitor the implementation of remediation plans.
  • Prepare and present briefing materials and other information for client management and executives.
  • Research and identify applicable guidance related to financial matters encountered and present recommendations and solutions to client management.
  • Provide audit support, advise on audit related issues, develop remediation plans for NFRs and communicate with audit personnel.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Work requires a highly motivated self-starter with attention to detail, deadline oriented, and communicates effectively both verbally and written.
  • Ability to provide guidance and instruction to subordinates, foster a team environment and develop their creative, technical and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly, possess strong analytical skills and multi-task.
  • General knowledge of GAAP and its application in the preparation of audited consolidated financial statements and related notes.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office suite, specifically, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and/or financial management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance and Other Business Related degree with a minimum of 24 credit hours in accounting.
  • CPA candidate, CGFM, preferred, but not required.
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Work requires a willingness to occasionally work extra hours to meet deadlines.
  • Our federal clients require individuals to complete a background investigation and credit check, as well as, be able to obtain a security clearance.
